A Win for Bend's Transportation Future!
Over the past two years, the 21-member Citywide Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) worked to develop a new Transportation System Plan (TSP) for the City of Bend, and LandWatch was there every step of the way advocating for a safer, more equitable and more sustainable transportation future.
We're excited to share that on August 19th, Bend City Council voted to adopt the proposal! Click here to send them a thank you email!
The TSP plans for a number of meaningful changes to Bend's transportation system over the next several decades, and is the largest investment in walking and biking infrastructure in Bend's history.
Rather than continue being a city reliant on expensive and dangerous infrastructure that primarily serves cars, the new TSP plans for more safe and convenient bike paths, sidewalks, transit service, and roads. Implementation of the TSP’s projects and programs should reduce the amount of driving the average Bend resident has to do on a daily basis, and it plans for right-sized investments that won’t burden taxpayers with unnecessary, expensive mega-projects.
It takes good planning to create a city that is walkable, bikable, and vibrant. Thanks to your support, we were able to participate in this process to ensure that travelling around Bend will be a more safe, equitable, and convenient experience by 2040.
In order to start building the sustainable transportation future of the newly adopted TSP, Bend City Council also voted to put a transportation General Obligation (GO) Bond on the November ballot. You can read about the GO Bond and the projects it funds here.
We are so happy to share this news with you, and we know it wouldn't have been possible without your support and advocacy. Thank you!
