A Place to Call Home? Take Action Today on Housing
Too many of our neighbors don’t have a home for the holidays. We can change that.
Like air to breathe and food to eat, shelter is a basic human need. Unfortunately, Central Oregon’s housing crisis has grown dire this year. People continue to move here, housing prices continue to rise, and many of our neighbors might not be able to stay.
If Oregon’s legislature doesn’t extend the eviction moratorium today, hundreds or even thousands of families will be evicted next month.
A recent US Census Bureau survey showed that 1 in 5 Oregon renting families with children say they have low confidence they can make next month’s rent. Read more here...
Today is the last day to contact the Oregon legislature and ask them to extend the eviction moratorium.
It doesn’t have to be this way. At LandWatch, we know that with careful and proactive planning, we can build healthy communities and prevent future housing crises while we protect our waterways and wildlife. By focusing on vertical mixed-use development in places like the Bend Central District we can create complete communities and prevent sprawl from eating up the natural resources and open spaces that make Central Oregon’s quality of life so exceptional.
We know that population growth is inevitable, but we have a say in how that growth happens. Central Oregon LandWatch invites you to be a part of creating the future we will all share. As we plan for 2021, we urge you to share your thoughts on how you want to see growth happen.
